The author's observations are spot on. However, I think his idea that this can change, or that people's fundamental metaphors for sexuality can change, are completely wrong headed, and merely wishful thinking.
My own thought is that masculinity & violence cannot really be addressed, without addressing sex & romance as well. But nobody's really doing that. Violence & aggression are problems that men will be held accountable for, but sex & romance are just luxuries, that men should do without. But consider Freyja...
You just have to see the pictures, to really believe it. I mean, I could _tell_ you about it, and the wikipedia page can _tell_ you about it, but until you follow the links to the pictures of the guys and gals parading these enormous "structures" around, you will never ever even begin to believe such a thing is possible.
